In this class we will focus upon the concept of "gaze" and
"observation" in poetry from Dante and Petrarch to the modern
times. We will analyze, in particular, how these two similar concepts
are correlated within the same works and authors and, at the same
time, how they refer to two very different ways of conceiving poetry
as a form of synthesis or as a form of analysis.
