TOPIC:  INTRO TO 20TH CENTURY U.S. HISTORY

This colloquium will address selected topics in twentieth-century
U.S. history.  Readings, writing assignments, and classroom
discussions will emphasize recent trends in the practice of history.
Students will write two short reviews of assigned weekly readings and
one longer historiographic essay.  In addition, students are required
to participate actively in classroom discussions.

Readings will include Edward Bellamy, Looking Backward; Linda Gordon,
The Great Arizona Orphan Abduction; George Chauncey, Gay New York;
Neil Foley, The White Scourge; and more.
