Living-learning Center | Animals, Society, and Animal Activism
L200 | 2968 | Tracie Wilson

In this course we will examine the important role that animals play
in human society, beginning with a discussion of why animals matter
to us. We will consider the many ways that animals are represented
in folklore, popular culture, and literature and how such images vary
among different cultures. We will also discuss the history and
present standing of the animal welfare movement, focusing on the
recent decades. The learning will be complemented by participating
in service activities at the Monroe County Humane Association and
Exotic Feline Rescue Center.
