P: M118, JOUR J200. Intended for Journalism majors. This course will
deal with statistical and mathematical techniques that are relevant to
journalism. The topics in statistics will include probability, the
normal distribution, hypothesis-testing, and polls, surveys and
sampling methods. We will also cover descriptive statistics, with a
focus on the graphical presentation of data and statistical inference.
We will cover the use of spreadsheets in statistical work and focus on
the exposition of mathematical and statistical results.
