This course is intended to develop proficiency and accuracy in reading
and translating classical Arabic, with emphasis on the foundational
Islamic religious texts.  Materials to be studied in class are
selected from the Qur'an, Qur'anic commentaries, the Hadith, and the
Sirah of the Prophet.  Relevant reference materials, both print and
electronic, such as lexica, concordances, etc., will also be
introduced.
