This section of Elementary Ethics is designed to stinulare reflection
about a number of issues in ethics and political philosophy.
Readings will include both great classics and contemporary
philosophical writings, and we will also read some excerpts of legal
cases. Topics will include abortion, racism and sexism, and the
relationship between morality and the law, and various issues
concerning individual liberty.
Students are advised that this course demands critical thinking,
close reading, and clear expository writing. While designed as an
introduction, the material is by nature often demanding and difficult.
