This course serves as the introductory graduate course in the field
of comparative politics.  It surveys approaches to the study of
political phenomena and examines how leading scholars have used and
developed them to improve our understanding of specific political
events, patterns and behaviors.  The goal is broad familiarity across
the field rather than in-depth knowledge of particular issues or
modes of analysis.
