Course description: Structure and function of DNA, RNA, and protein.
The role of these macromolecules in information storage and transfer
will be covered in detail. Topics included in this context will be
mechanisms of mutation and repair, recombination, and gene expression.
Application of this knowledge to genetic engineering and medicine will
be investigated.

Weekly assignments: Collaborative learning worksheets, readings from
textbook and independent investigation of topics using the internet.

Exams/papers: Three midterm exams, comprehensive final and weekly
evaluations of work conducted in collaborative learning groups.
