Criminal Justice-COAS | Private Security
P300 | 1431 | Walton
Both public and private police play major roles in the provision of
protection. Businesses, homeowners and communities are increasingly
relying on private security rather than tax-supported police to
provide an environment safe from crime. The role of private security
is examined in this course. The working relationship between
private and public agencies in their efforts to reduce crime will be
examined. Specific crimes to include the most common security
concerns of businesses and individuals will be covered. Available
resources for the students' research projects will be provided.
Class meeting: Tuesdays, 5;45-8:15, JH A100
