Classical Studies | Comparative Mythology
C405 | 0893-0984 | William Hansen

C405/0893-0894 will meet from 11:15A - 12:30P Tuesday and Thursday in
Ballantine Hall 018

Section [0893] open to undergraduates only.

Section [0894] open to graduate students.

This course is for students who wish to pursue ancient and medieval
mythology beyond the level represented by C205 Classical Mythology.
We examine selected European and ancient Near Eastern mythological
texts (especially Greek, Hebrew, Scandinavian, and Mesopotamian) in
English translation, and we consider some of the techniques and
theories that persons have employed from antiquity to the present in
an effort to understand them.

C405 Comparative Mythology is one of the core courses for the minor in
Mythology Studies.
