"Culture is not an explanation; it is something to be explained." This
course aims to raise the awareness to the man-made nature of culture
and to make visible the everyday processes and practices through which
"culture" is constructed, reproduced and naturalised. To understand
how and why certain representations of culture are favoured and others
marginalised, the course will investigate the (commercial,
technological and sociological) processes through which culture is
produced, disseminated and consumed.
