Ethnic American Literature

THIS COURSE CARRIES CULTURE STUDIES CREDIT.

Ethnic American Literature focuses on selected works by North American ethnic writers, including works by European-American, African-American, Native-American, and Asian-American writers. The course will investigate the relationships between ethnicity and history, and ethnicity and gender.

The tentative reading list will include works by Toni Morrison, Philip Roth, Ana Castillo, and Judy Fong Bates, among others.

Course requirements will include short responses, two main papers, a mid-term, and a final.
