This course is a one-semester survey of the visual art traditions of
Australia and the South Pacific island groups of Polynesia, Micronesia,
and Melanesia.  It focucses on style regions, individual island styles,
and the cultural and historical contexts of objects.  The emphasis on the
traditional arts, but contemporary forms will also be discussed.
