Gender Studies | Feminism and Value - Writings of Simone de Beauvoir
G402 | 2476 | Peggy Brand

Feminism and Value offers a study of several key writings by the
French feminist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir; the short story "The
Woman Destroyed," the philosophical text The Ethics of Ambiguity, and
her most important work from the 1940s, The Second Sex. The course
connects two of Beauvoir's main theses - female sexuality and the role
of the arts in society - to the 50th anniversary of the Alfred Kinsey
volume on female sexuality and the semester-long series of special
events hosted by the Kinsey Institute (see
www.indiana.edu/~kinsey/services/2003/index.html).
