This course covers several aspects and a selection of crucial
episodes of the history of medicine (social, intellectual,
institutional) up to 1800.  Great emphasis is given to using a wide
range of historical artifacts, including texts, illustrations and
objects.  We will discuss Greek medicine and Hippocrates, the
anatomical revival from Vesalius to Harvey, microscopy, and the
links between theory and medical practice.
