The purpose of this course is to acquaint you with the geography of
Western Europe. The course is divided into background material and
regional material. The background material provides the physical,
historical, and cultural background to present-day Europe and a
brief discussion of pan-European issues, while the regional portion
provides an examination of Europe in a country-by-country fashion.
Students who wish to research in a foreign language in Geography of
Europe may earn an extra credit for this course. To obtain the extra
credit, students should enroll in W415 (independent readings) for
one credit.
