A452 | 0299 | Audrey McCluskey
The history of black education is the history of a people’s attempt
to gain full access to the American dream. Yet , that dream often
became a nightmare as resistance to equal education for blacks has
been a constant in America history. This course--using primary
documentary sources, theories of education, and studies of
educational leadership, and case studies -- will examine salient
educational issues through the lens of history, and trace them to
contemporary settings in the social , cultural, and legal
landscapes of our time. Particular attention will be paid to
issues of gender and social class in education.
