Requirements: This is a non-majors course. No biology background is
necessary.

Course description: Topic: Viruses and Human History. An introduction
to viruses and human immunology. History of virology: role of viral
diseases in human history; smallpox, yellow fever; AIDs; emerging
viruses; viruses in bioterrorism.

Required text: "Viruses, Plagues and History", by Oldstone.

Weekly assignments: Readings and question sets.

Exams/papers: Three-four exams including final.
