L304  Catullus:  The course will be based upon a close and careful
reading of the poems of Catullus, which present him in the roles of
lover, disaffected youth, and urban(e) poet par excellence.  We will
also examine Catullan meter and diction, and investigate the poet's
aesthetic choices on the level of the individual poem and in the
broader cultural context of Late Republican Rome.
