This course UG only. This section meets with FINA A410 (GR), CLAS
C495 (UG) and CLAS G875 (GR).
This course will focus on the archaeology of civic and religious
institutions in Greece from the eighth through the fourth centuries
B.C. Lectures will focus on the development of the architectural
orders, evidence for town planning in the early Greek colonies, the
rise of the polis, and the panhellenic sanctuaries of Olympia and
Delphi. Students will also participate in a series of class
discussions and article reviews considering aspects of
archaeological methodology, theory, and interpretation. This course
for advanced undergraduates and graduates. Prerequisite C206
Classical Art and Archaeology.
