Ophthalmic Dispensing
4 credit hours; offered spring semester only
Instructor: S. Pickel

Students in this course will learn a practical skill in an area applicable to both optometry and opticianry. Students enjoy "hands-on" instruction involving a variety of different activities with optical lenses and frames. Students learn how to place lenses into frames and how to adjust the eyewear so that it fits comfortably and correctly. The frame selection process requires knowledge of proper frame type, shape, size, and color needed to enhance the wearer's appearance. Additional topics include frame and facial measurements, eyewear prescription ordering, eyewear repair, and types of frame and lens materials needed for specific purposes. No previous experience is necessary and no prerequisites are required.
