Philosophy | Applied Ethics
P242 | 3535 | Shapshay

This course will focus on ethical issues related to medicine and
new biomedical technologies, such as genetic engineering and
cloning. After a brief overview of major ethical theories and moral
reasoning, we will study the ethical issues involved in abortion,
euthanasia, distribution of health care in the U.S. and others. By
the end of the class, through the readings, lectures, discussions,
class debates, and several written assignments, students should be
able to reason through and apply ethical theories to any biomedical-
ethical issue that comes their way.
