The study of politics is a vast endeavor and this course will be an
introduction to methods for political science research. Therefore, we
will cover basic topics in research design and statistics and
consider many examples of such research. Students can expect to be
introduced to not only the means for conducting research in political
science but also the theory that guides the accumulation of knowledge
about political phenomena. This course will provide students with the
analytic tools necessary to understand quantitative political
research, to identify its limitations and abilities, and how to
approach quantitative research critically.
