R373 | 3943 | Mongoven
This course explores intersections of religion, ethics, and
medicine. We will consider various approaches to bioethical
reasoning as we simultaneously consider practical issues in medical
ethics. Religious, anthropological, and secular analyses will be
included. Course materials include case studies, film, and guest
lectures from relevant figures in the community, as well as
theoretical materials. Two topical issues that will be addressed
from multiple perspectives are transplant ethics and ethics at the
end of life, including attention to the debate on physician-assisted
suicide.
