Religious Studies | Holy Person In Comparative Perspective
R602 | 3962 | Campany
In this seminar, we will first analyze some key works on the topic
of holy persons in various cultures and traditions, gaining a sense
of the history of the scholarly discourse. Each student will than
prepare a research project based on sources from her or his area of
expertise, and these projects will be discussed. Students
registering for this course are encouraged to notify the instructor
of outstand (or interestingly flawed) relevant secondary works in
their area for possible inclusion on the syllabus. 700-level credit
is available for students who are using original-language primary-
source texts in preparing their research projects and who complete a
somewhat more substantial project and who submit reports on extra
readings.
