sociological perspective and learn how sociologists understand and
examine the world around us. We will touch on many of the
substantive topics of interest to sociologist such as education,
family, class, inequality, politics, and health. Also, we will
explore the various theoretical perspectives and research methods
sociologists use to understand society. This course will help you
to think critically about the social world in which you live. A
sociological understanding enables us to suggest solutions to
aspects of our society we find problematic. Our society not only
influences us, but is also influenced by us. Therefore,
sociologists believe in the opportunity for individuals to change
the world around them.
