This course is a survey of the acquisition and development of sound
systems.  Topics include the relationship between normal sound
development and phonological disorders, the relationship between
speech production and perception, the characterization of
phonological disorders, assessment frameworks and methods, and
intervention strategies.  Procedures for assessing and treating
phonological disorders will be taught in the context of clinical case
studies.  The clinical cases will be used to illustrate methodologies
and to plan remediation programs.  The course is designed to
facilitate critical thinking through clinical problem-solving.
