Summary of course objectives:

We will develop and apply economic concepts to communications
industries, primarily the mass media.  This has two objectives.  One
is to provide you with a method for evaluating public policy issues
in the media. The other is to provide you with a foundation for
evaluating or developing business strategies of communications firms
or organizations.  The course covers a selective list of topics,
including: print media, broadcasting, cable television and other
multi-channel systems, movies, and the Internet.

Format: medium lecture/discussion, no sections

Requirements the course meets: Counts toward the COAS and Dept. of
Telecommunications 300-400 level course requirements; Industry and
management area.

Required texts: Compiled course packet of selected articles and book
chapters.

Meeting times: 2:30-3:45 MW
