Goals: Creole C502 is an introduction to the Haitian Creole language
and culture. It is designed to help students improve their
communication skills in Creole through an emphasis on speaking,
listening, reading, and writing. By the end of the course, students
should be able to interact successfully in Creole, understand the
main ideas of what they hear, see, and read in Creole, and express
themselves clearly in written Creole. In addition to linguistic
skills, students will also gain a deeper understanding of diverse
aspects of Creole-speaking cultures. The course textbook is
specifically designed to help students achieve these goals.
