Linguistics | Methods in Teaching ESL/EFL to Adults
T534 | 7626 | Jane Hardy
This course looks at methods and approaches in teaching ESL/EFL to
adults. The course begins with a brief survey of commonly used
teaching methods, exploring the principles and assumptions underlying
them, and questioning the centrality of method in ESL/EFL pedagogy.
The teaching of individual skills is then considered, with connections
made between theory and classroom practice. The nature of language
classrooms and the roles of teachers and learners are discussed, and
finally ESL/EFL teaching is considered within its broader
socio-political context.
