Linguistics | English for Specific Purposes
T600 | 7629 | Jane Hardy
This course will cover issues in the teaching of English for Specific
Purposes, with an emphasis on course design. The course will begin
with a brief overview of ESP, looking at areas such as English for
Business Purposes and English for Specific Academic Purposes. Students
will then be guided through the process of designing an actual ESP
course, beginning with a needs assessment, then writing goals and
objectives, preparing a course outline, and finally preparing sample
classroom materials. The course will be conducted primarily as a
workshop, with students expected to present their work throughout the
semester.
