Political Science | The New Institutionalism in American Politics
Y661 | 9862 | Ensley

This seminar focuses on national political institutions in the United
States. The reading materials will be steeped in the new
institutionalism, which focuses on the interaction between strategic
political actors operating in a particular institutional context.
Further, the readings will present a mix of formal-theoretic research
and empirical tests on topics such as electoral competition,
legislative organization, executive-legislative relations, divided
government, interest group formation and lobbying, and bureaucratic
politics.
