Introductory Psychology for Majors I

Psychology is the science that seeks to understand behavior and
mental processes. Psychology is a broad field with affiliations to
clinical practice, education, business and academics. This course is
an introduction to psychology and will focus on academic psychology
as it relates to the biological basis of behavior and mental
processes. Topics include the history of psychology; research
methods; the structure of the nervous system; motivation and
emotion; sensation, perception and attention; cognition, language
and consciousness. Grades are assessed with regular in-class
quizzes, in-class exams and written assignments.
