Explores the Buddhist religion as it moved across the East Asian
cultural region of China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.  We will focus
primarily on China and Japan, but with special attention to features
of sub-continental magnitude. We'll cover a range of doctrinal
theory, practical and devotional activities. and socio-historical
issues. Both a basic description of course philosophy and the
syllabus of lectures, readings and assignments are available online
at www.indiana.edu/-r350/.  This course carries Culture Studies
distribution credit.
