The course will be organized around two topics:  social networks and
complex organizations.  Iíll cover theories typically encountered in
the study of networks or bureaucracies:  new institutionalism,
population ecology, rational choice theory, bounded rationality,
garbage can models, organizational culture, theories of social
conflict, social capital, complexity and robust action.  The
readings will illustrate these concepts in economic, political and
health contexts.
