S332 | 10661 | Hostetter
P: S231, S251; P or C: S352; C: S381. Open to accepted social work
majors only. Generalist Social Work Practice II: Theory and Skills is
the second course in the social work practice professional content
area. It provides for an understanding of the continuum of practice
by focusing on the middle and ending phases of the problem solving
models, which reflect the systems theory, and is a basic context
within which generalist practice occurs. Such a model fosters an
understanding of the interrelationship between social conditions, the
individual, family, group, organizational and community functioning.
This view rests on a framework of values, knowledge and skills,
gained in previous courses and requires an understanding of the
profession of social work.
