Course description: Structure and function of DNA, RNA and proteins.
Topics covered in this course include (1) Chemistry of nucleic acids;
(2) Structure of DNA, RNA and proteins; (3) Mechanisms of DNA
replication, recombination, transcription, RNA processing and
translation; (4) Gene regulation in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes
and (5) Techniques in molecular biology.
Exams: Two midterm exams 7-9pm Wednesday February 8, 2006 and
Wednesday March 29, 2006. Comprehensive final exam during final exam
week. No makeup exams.
