Course Description:  This seminar is for doctoral students with an
interest, or experiential and/or academic background in
multicultural education.  The course begins with an exploration of
the nature and origins of multicultural education. It then focuses
on critical analysis of curriculum development models and conceptual
frameworks that underlie multicultural curriculum inquiry and
design.  These frameworks include Historical inquiry and curriculum
transformation: A case study of Ronald Takaki’s work; Content
Integration: A case example of Afrocentrism; Empowerment; Anti-
racism; Inter-cultural Competence; Bibliotherapy; and Funds of
Knowledge research.   Students will work independently or in small
groups to develop an inquiry or curriculum design project related to
their personal interests and professional goals.  The class is
scheduled on Thursdays, 1-3:45 PM.
