PREREQUISITE: Completion of the English Composition requirement.

This course is designed to help students in any field develop
writing and research skills that will be useful in the professional
world, as well as in any future writing project.  It concentrates on
the writing of concise, informative prose, and emphasizes the
importance of composing with a clearly defined purpose and
audience.  Assignments will be based on general principles of
communication and will familiarize students with abstracts, reports,
and proposals.  The course assumes that students will be ready to
devote constant, careful attention to their writing and rewriting.
