French and Italian | ADVANCED GRAMMAR
F313 | 16400 | Wilkin, Rebecca

The objective of this course is to improve students’ mastery of
French grammar. This involves shoring up areas with which students
are already familiar (passé composé vs. imparfait, the subjunctive,
interrogative pronouns, etc.) as well as introducing some structures
that may be entirely new (“depuis”, the causative, the passive,
indirect discourse, etc.). Students should leave the course with
greater grammatical accuracy as well as with the ability to
manipulate complex sentence structures. Assignments include daily
grammatical exercises, four compositions, and four exams (including
a final exam). Grades are determined based on students’ performance
on the latter as well as on daily participation. The textbook for
the course is Jacqueline Ollivier’s Grammaire Française.
