HISP-S 332 Hispanic World II (3 credits)
Prerequisite: S331 or equivalent.

The continuation –or rather the ‘prequel’– to S331. The purpose of
the course is to improve the student’s ability to read literature in
Spanish, think about it, become further acquainted with technical
terminology and critical problems, and write coherent short papers
about specific topics. We read texts from the Iberian peninsula and
will move back in time from contemporary to medieval times. Readings
vary in length, from short stories to a full play and a short novel.
Three of the main genres will be studied: narrative fiction, poetry,
and drama.

There will be two exams and the students will present four short
(2-3 page) papers. Upon these the grades will be determined.
Note: Credit given for only two of the following: S331, S332, S333
