In this class, we will examine the major diplomatic, political,
social, economic, and cultural developments in the United States
since 1865.  Major themes will include the relationship between
foreign and domestic affairs, the revolutionary effect of war on
American society, the experiences of women, African Americans, and
other minorities in the face of discrimination, and the rise of the
federal regulatory state.
