Honors | Modern Myths of Individualism (HON)
H303 | 17022 | Luis Davila

TuTh 9:30-10:45am

This seminar will deal with the modern myths of individualism as
displayed in works that deal with the Don Juan, Faust and the
Robinson Crusoe themes.

We will read selected narrative prose works, plays and poetry that
demonstrate the fascination these prototypes have had for readers
across the centuries.

Brief introductory lectures will get us started with our
discussions, but it is in the give and take of ideas preferred that
our seminar will ultimately best prosper.

Two brief papers will be assigned, as well as a final paper.

The instructor will be Professor Luis Dávila.
