As information technology is adapted in various sectors of society,
it creates in the social fabric of our lives by enabling uses of
information that were not possible earlier, and by shaping changes in
our social institutions. This course uses the perspectives of
sociology, anthropology, political science, and economics to examine
the changes created by information and information technologies in
our social institutions. Topics include the economics of information
and information technology use, The relationship between organization
cultures and their use of information and information technology, and
ownership of intellectual property.
