This ten-week course introduces you to important academic and policy
debates that shape American Foreign policy towards the Middle East
and the Muslim world today.  We will address six big questions: 1)
Should the US have invaded Iraq in 2003? 2) Should the US leave
Iraq? 3) Is the use of torture by American forces legitimate, moral
or useful? 4) Should the US support Israeli policies or Palestinian
rights? 5) Is there a clash of civilizations between the West and
Islam? And 6) What role should academics play in shaping our
understanding of foreign policy?
