The Causes and Consequences of Divorce
This class aims to provide students with a scientific foundation for
understanding divorce by covering the current theories and the latest
research. Family transitions, such as divorce and remarriage, are
studied by a number of social sciences, including economics,
sociology, anthropology, and psychology. Each of these will be
discussed, but the primary focus of this course is on the
psychological literature. The course requirements are aimed at
teaching students to critically evaluate journal articles about
divorce and succinctly and clearly describe the research on family
transitions.
