SECTION OPEN TO UNDERGRADUATES ONLY
We will examine the nature and the effect of gender roles in society.
In this examination, we will being by discussion our assumptions
about men and about women and how these assumptions influence and are
influenced by our own behavior and by social institutions. Topics to
be discussed may include: gender role socialization, childhood and
adolescence, media, schools, medicine, sports, language, interpersonal
relations, sexuality, the family, and women and men in the work force.
This is not a course on women only. Rather, we will attempt to
provide an equal emphasis on the experiences of men and women.
