Course Description and Content: An examination of the contemporary
retail environment as it relates to basic merchandising principles
such as the retail organizational structure, pricing strategy, mark-
ups, mark-downs, profit and loss statements are some concepts
examined. Comprehensive analysis using merchandising principles is
emphasized.

Required Texts and Readings: Fairchild-Mathematics for Retail
Buying, 5th edition

Readings from "Women's Wear Daily" as well as other supplemental
materials that relate to course topics will be assigned as deemed
necessary by the instructor.

Outline Course Requirements: Course evaluation is based on tests,
quizzes and projects and and major analytical group project.
