(This course will be listed as EDUC N102 for the Spring 2006
semester.)

The course is intended for elementary education major and can be
substituted for T102 offered by the Mathematics Department.  Credit
cannot be given for both T102 and this course.  The course will
focus on fundamental ideas associated with data and chance.  Among
these topics will be the following:  basic notions of probability
(e.g., sample space, experiment, outcomes, likelihood, expected
value, dependent and independent events, mutually exclusive events,
odds); and key concepts and procedures of statistics (e.g.,
sampling, variation, measures of central tendency, correlation,
scatter plots, prediction, & scaling).
