This course is a survey of the history and philosophy of science
from Ancient Greece to the early 20th Century. Topics include the
roots of Western Science in Greek philosophy; the development of
philosophy and mathematics in the non-Christian world during the
Middle Ages; the Scientific Revolution of Europe; and finally, the
innovations of the pre-World War II scientific communities. Readings
for the course will include both primary and secondary sources,
either in translation or original English.
